Professor and Anita Zucker Center Affiliate Emeritus Nancy E. Dowd and University of Chicago Professor Emeritus Margaret Beal Spencer recently delivered the 2024 Weyrauch Distinguished Lecture in Family Law titled Radical Brown: Keeping the Promise to America’s Children. The Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies co-hosted the event with the Fredric G. Levin College of Law and the Early Childhood Policy Centers Collaborative.
During this lecture, Dowd and Spencer presented their elaboration and re-reading of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling. Historical and prescriptive, Dowd and Spencer explore the interpretation and legacy of this ruling and how it continues to shape children’s development and education in America.
