Project Overview

Sunshine Portal

The Sunshine State Early Childhood Information Portal is funded through Florida’s Preschool Development Grant Birth to Five (PDG B-5), a competitive grant that was awarded to the Florida Office of Early Learning (OEL) to support the state’s efforts to understand the current status of the early childhood care and education (ECCE) mixed delivery system. The Sunshine Portal provides centralized access to data and information about children, families and early childhood services that are important to both local and statewide stakeholders.

This project includes multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaboration to enhance data infrastructure through the construction of an Early Childhood Integrated Data System (ECIDS) information portal. This information is linked at the child level and is reported as state and local summaries of risk factors, protective factors, service access, service quality and outcome indicators. The Sunshine Portal provides Florida’s early childhood system stakeholders a comprehensive view of the strengths and needs of the early childhood mixed delivery system of supports through innovative data visualizations. The interactive information within the portal allows users to view maps and data that illustrate early childhood system supports by selecting from a variety of data points and geographic levels (e.g., public elementary school zone, county, early learning coalition and statewide).
